The British High Commission in Pakistan has launched a nationwide climate journalism training initiative aimed at empowering media professionals to drive awareness and action on climate change.

Spotlighting the Role of Journalists

According to the statement issued by the British High Commission, the training will highlight the crucial role journalists play in encouraging climate action. By focusing on climate change solutions and promoting climate action, journalists can help their readers and viewers understand the impact of climate change on their daily lives.

  • Journalists can highlight climate change solutions and their implementation in different sectors.
  • They can encourage climate action among the public and promote sustainable practices.
  • Journalists can help their readers and viewers understand how climate change affects them and their communities.

Deputy Director of Communications and Public Diplomacy, Sneha Lala, stated: β€œThe cost of inaction on climate change in Pakistan is $1.2 trillion by 2050. Within that figure is countless lives lost, countless numbers of people pushed into poverty, and countless livelihoods lost. It can be a bleak picture, but climate journalism is at the heart of showing us that there is another option. Climate journalism can incentivise action, spotlight solutions and create change. I look forward to seeing the stories journalists go on to produce.”
