Malaysian Cop29 Leaders Propel Global Climate Action Forward!

Malaysia remains resolute in its commitment to the Paris Agreement. Despite contributing just 0.8% of global greenhouse gas emissions, Malaysia has consistently sought to lead by example and push the envelope. At COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) reaffirmed Malaysia’s leadership role.

The country is also exploring opportunities for green financing, including the development of a green bond market.

  • Increasing energy efficiency in buildings and industries
  • Promoting the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power
  • Encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles
  • Implementing carbon pricing mechanisms, such as carbon taxes or cap-and-trade systems
  • Supporting Climate Change Adaptation

Malaysia is also taking steps to enhance its climate resilience, particularly in vulnerable areas.

Malaysia remains steadfast in its mission to lead with purpose and integrity. Although others may waver, our commitment to the Paris Agreement is sacrosanct.
